A new recording of selected Melodious Etudes performed by
Douglas Yeo, Ralph Sauer, Scott Hartman, John Rojak and Don Immel
Produced by Vincent LaBelle
A Belle Records Digital Recording, CD 010108
This unique recording features performances of 12 Melodious Etudes as arranged from Vocalises of Marco Bordogni by Joannes Rochut, principal trombonist of
the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1925-1929. Rochut's three volumes of Melodious Etudes are among the most frequently used trombone study materials. Vincent
LaBelle, a trombonist himself, undertook to record five well known trombonists who each chose two or three Melodious Etudes to record. Those participating in the
recording are:
- Douglas Yeo, bass trombonist, Boston Symphony Orchestra
- Ralph Sauer, principal trombonist, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra (retired)
- Scott Hartman, faculty, Yale University; member, Four of a Kind trombone quartet
- John Rojak, bass trombonist, American Brass Quintet
- Don Immel, principal trombonist, Sonderjyllands Symfoniorkester (Denmark)
The Melodious Etudes that were recorded all come from Volume I of Rochut's compilation: 1, 3, 4, 9, 11, 16, 22, 31, 35, 36, 48, 54.
The Essential Rochut is available from Belle Records for $15.00 including shipping. For more information or to order the recording,
